Around the World in 80 Days, an incredible production from LHS theater

LHS Theater has done it again!  With a compelling story, incredible special effects, and great acting, Around the World in 80 Days is a must-see for the LHS student.

Fogg, played by Calvin Timmers, with the Reform Club.

It’s the year 1872, and Phileas Fogg, played by senior Calvin Timmers, bet others of the prestigious Reform Club 20,000 pounds that he can go completely around the world and return to London in 80 days.  A wager is set, and Fogg goes along with his loyal servant, Jean Passeportout, played by senior Christian Tieberg.  Pursuing them is Detective Fix, played by senior Michael Alexander, who believes that Fogg is the bank robber who recently stole 55,000 pounds and is attempting to escape arrest.  On their journey of hijinks, the crew saves Aouda, played by junior Victoria Chang, who joins the travelers and changes how Fogg sees the world.

Detective Fix, played by Michael Alexander, and Passeportout, played by Christian Tieburg, meet on a boat.

The story is filled with laughter as the audience watches the characters progress and adapt.  From Passeportout’s bubbly and energetic disposition to Detective Fix’s feeble attempts to cut their trip short, all the roles are dynamic and interesting to witness.

The special effects, props, and costumes all draw in the audience as the play travels from scene to scene, from country to country.  Each new place is represented by various elements to describe the culture of the new areas.
