Dear Norman,
Do you personally think if things go well, and we all go back to in-person school after a full YEAR of COVID-19 and that this year’s seniors will get their first and last prom? I hope the seniors get their prom because they couldn’t have it last year and now if they can’t have it this year, 2021 will be the only class that hasn’t had prom during their years in high school.
Sincerely,
Anonymous
Anonymous,
I think it is difficult to be certain how things will play out for the remainder of this year. If people continue to social distance, wear masks, and be COVID safe, I think there is a good possibility that Prom could happen. Ultimately, if Prom happens, it will probably have to be outside because there really isn’t a way to keep everyone COVID safe when having an indoor dance with the Junior and Senior classes. Please continue to do the right thing and stay home when sick, wash your hands frequently, and physically distance yourself from people outside of your household! Hopefully, we will have a return to normalcy in the near future.
Stay safe,
Norman
Dear Norman,
How do you think students will do mental health wise when returning to hybrid?
Thanks,
J:)
Hi there, J-
I have recently been seeing a lot of students struggling with their mental health with this shift to Hybrid occurring. It can be difficult to have less instruction and a greater amount of tests/ assessments/ quizzes, and it can be extremely emotionally draining. Please be sure to take care of yourself and remember to prioritize your mental health! Below are some valuable mental health resources 🙂

Dear Norman,
What is your favorite fun fact about lions?
Sincerely,
Lions Can’t Purr
Hello!
Yes, it is true that I cannot purr. Most big cats cannot purr due to the length of tough cartilage that runs up the hyoid bones to the skull. While this feature prevents purring, it also gives the larynx enough flexibility to produce a very loud roar! My favorite fun fact about lions might be that we are the only cats that live in groups. We can have up to 30 lions in a pride, depending on the availability of food and water sources.

Dear Norman,
I really like this guy in my science class and I don’t know what I should say to him! Please help.
Thank you so much,
Pseudonymous Girl
Dear Pseudonymous Girl,
I think a good place to start might be by getting to know him better and maybe ask him for his phone number or his social media handles so that you can continue to talk to him outside of class. Here are some of my confidence tips to make you look like the most confident queen ever!
- Smile a lot. You don’t have to be happy all the time, no one is! But studies show that people who smile more are more attractive. So even though we have a mask on, if he says something funny and you are the only one that heard it, sometimes giving a small laugh to let him know that you were listening can mean a lot to someone.
- Compliment him! Most guys are not used to getting compliments, so when they do, it feels special. Don’t overdo it or seem too over eager by complimenting everything he does in an attempt to boost his confidence. But if you genuinely like his glasses, or if you appreciated him helping you understand an assignment, it is okay to let him know! And who knows? Maybe he secretly really likes your clothing style but is too afraid to talk to you.
- Be yourself. Don’t try to be what you think his ideal girl would be because you will only make yourself unhappy in the process. Keep being your silly, fun, creative, kind self; and maybe he will want to be your lab partner next time!
Good Luck! You’ve got this,
Norman
