The LHS boys tennis team has begun their season and they have gotten busy. Having played three separate schools in six days, they are battle tested and ready to take on any opponent through the remainder of the season.
“We’ve got a very front loaded schedule to help prepare us for the rest of the season,” said Senior Pierce Battles.
Holding their own against teams from far bigger schools, in order to prepare them for teams throughout the next month and into the postseason. From player to player, the goals for the season are set high.
“By the end of the season I want to be playing at state,” said Battles.
Battles, who’s earned the title of doubles one, alongside Freshman Enzo Balderrama, is hoping to compete for the chance at a state title to bring to LHS come October.
Meanwhile for Senior Andrew Desjardins, he has started his season 3-0 in his individual performances as the boys tennis singles two.
“It’s been a nice boost, we’ve had some losing seasons in the past so it’s nice to see some success,” said Desjardins.
While the season has just begun, the team is preparing for the future and are looking forward to their next match against D’Evelyn on September 3.
