This Thursday and Friday is Littleton High School’s student directed play, Blithe Spirit. The play is amazing and we highly recommended you to come and watch!

The comedic 1930s play, chosen by the students, is set in a Britain winter. Blithe Spirit is the story of Charles, played by Michele Alexander, and his wife Ruth, played by Carly Calhoun. Charles had wanted new material for his book. To get inspiration he holds a séance with eccentric Madame Arcti, played by Victoria Chang-Nunley and invites Dr. Bradman, played by Athen Kerr, and Ms. Bradman, played by Sara Reichlin, to join the fun. This brings the jealous ghost of his first wife Elvira, played by Julia McGarrity, to haunt him, disrupting the flow of his new life without her. Her presence upsets Ruth greatly but worse things are on the horizon for the girl. Elvira does everything possible to get Charles back until things go a bit too far.

The cast of this production of Blithe Spirit was very good. The seven person cast all had their individual triumphs. All the actors were well-timed with their lines and knew exactly when to be serious and when they could have a bit more fun with the script. In the roles of Madame Arcti and Edith, the nervous maid played by Alex Herrera, the actresses did a great job acting out their characters through their movements and really bringing them to life on stage. Each performer came up with their own individual accent as well. Everyone added there own special part to the play that as a whole made it amazing.

The seven person cast gave an excellent performance on stage but the student crew behind scenes really helped bring the whole thing together. As a student directed play, it’s important to mention the students who directed it. A big shout out to Sky Ezzell, Julia Collins and Ava Ludwig for sound. Erin Sheeran, who is on prop crew, and Kiley Craigg, who runs the lights, also should be mentioned. Milena Ramos is the director and made many contributions to the show.
Blithe Spirit is nicely timed and another amazing product of Littleton High School’s performing arts program. The comedy is student directed. Everything seen on stage is credited to this semester’s theater classes. They have been working on the show for the entire semester and it has finally paid off. The students did an excellent job and should be very proud of themselves.

This witty production is a show you can not miss! Make sure to come watch Blithe Spirit this Thursday and Friday at 7pm in the Littleton High School Theater.
