If you love cooking and eating homemade food, the culinary club is the activity for you! The club takes place in the morning before school at 7:45 in Ms. Coberly’s room, and according to co-president Teya Fukuhara, it’s a great place to make friends and hang out.
“I love cooking, this was a way for me to get into it. If you like to hang out and make food you should do it, it’s super fun. You know that good smell in the hallway early in the morning? That’s us,” said Fukuhara.

In addition to a fun and relaxed environment, the culinary club has some events coming up in the future. This includes participating in Lion’s Preview Night on Thursday, November 11, and potentially another salsa competition in the spring.
“We’re gonna be at LHS Lion’s Preview Night, we’re planning on making some food for that, most likely baking something, there will also be more events during the end of the year,” said Fukuhara.
The culinary club also wants to do a “Chopped” watch party this year where they’ll watch an episode of the show then make a recipe with the random ingredients assigned by Mrs. Coberly.

Like many others, one of Teya’s favorite aspects of the culinary club is getting to show off her creations before first period. It’s a great way to increase outside interest for the club and to get a gourmet bite to eat before the first class of the day.
“It’s a lot of fun to show off all the stuff you made before 1st period, it’s nice to walk around with what you made and have people ask you about it,” said Fukuhara.
The only requirements for the club are a basic understanding of cooking and a $10 membership fee. If you’re looking for a relaxed and delicious way to start your day it seems like culinary club would be the perfect opportunity for you!
