On November 18th, our DECA chapter competed in the Districts competition.
The LHS chapter did outstanding as we took home the top team trophy, Chapter Productivity Award. This award is given to the school with the highest overall average score per member.
23 students qualified for the DECA state competition in February. These students include: Bex Batenburg, Catherine Dutmer, Ashlyn Farnham, Trevor Metz, Colletta Schiller, Olga Sorbala, Luke DuMoulin, Zach Long, Nick Hopper, Mia Wyte, Catherine May, Sara Rinehart, Belle Geist, Morgan Kelly, Grady Redding, McKenzie Pullar, Angelina Holm, Shannon Connor, Charlie Denman, Max Regan, Abby McPherson, Lane Greenly, Aden Becker, and Cabot McMahon.
“I am really proud of our chapter for working hard and overcoming the difficulties especially given we have had a tough past years,” said President Abby McPherson.
There were 5 LHS DECA members who received the Top Test Score Award including: Trevor Metz, Luke DuMoulin, Zach Long, Catherine May, and Grady Redding. In order to compete, members are required to take a test and these students scored the highest on it.
“I have been on DECA for all four years, so I felt confident going into the test that I knew what I was doing on the test,” said senior Trevor Metz whose event is Business Finance.
We hope to see the results of the DECA students when they compete for state in February.
