Denver Nuggets Clinic

On February 4th, we took a trip to Ball Arena to participate in the Special Olympics Denver Nuggets Clinic. We took the bus to the arena with all our friends and when we got checked in, they gave us a blue wristband and a Denver Nuggets clinic jersey to wear. The blue wristband meant that we were team blue! Once we got our jerseys, we got to take a picture holding a basketball before we signed our One-Day Nuggets contract. We also got to eat lunch as a group before we started our clinic.

Once we were allowed on the court, we ran through different basketball drills at four different stations. The first station we went to, was run by some of our favorite players on the team, like Jamal Murray and Christian Braun. We did dribbling drills first, where we had to run with the ball, do crossovers, and hop on one foot while dribbling. We also had to go up against the Nuggets players and get past them, which was tricky and difficult. After that drill, we did passing drills led by Nikola Jokić to help make sure each of our teammates got a chance with the ball, but also to prepare to help get the ball around in the game. We did over-head, bounce-pass, and step-and-pass drills. The next thing we did was go through agility training with the ladder on the floor, we had to work on our footwork, and at one point we went through backward. The more we did it, the easier and less tricky it got to work on it. The last thing we did before we took pictures and said bye to our new friends and the Denver Nuggets, was shooting. We all got to try and shoot the ball in the basket. We had a lot of fun, and would love to do it again!
