On Friday, November 4th Drake and 21 Savage released their highly anticipated collaboration album “Her Loss”. The album was set to release a week prior however was delayed. This collaboration of the two has been a fan favorite since their song “Knife Talk” off of Drake’s 2019 album “Certified Lover Boy”.
At first listen, I was not a fan of the album however, on second and third listens of the album I would continue to find more songs I enjoy. This made my rating change from a 3/10 to a 6/10, to finally my official rating of an 8/10. I think there are some very good parts of this album and that it is put well together. One thing I was hoping for was 21 savage to be on the tracks a little more, it felt like a Drake album with 21 savage features on most songs.
Travis Scott was the only feature on the album on my personal favorite song “Pu**y and Millions,” The feature sounded really good and fit right in with the song and album. Drake had a big bounce back after the backlash he received for his previous album “Honestly, Nevermind” which had the highest streaming song by far being the last track featuring 21 Savage, a clear preview to this album.
There is some controversy surrounding the song “Circo Loco” in which Drake implies that Megan Thee Stallion was lying about her allegations about being shot by rapper Tory Lanez. Drake has received backlash for saying so however, Megan was granted writing credits on the song.
Overall, the album is worth a listen to any fans of Drake or 21 Savage and is a good casual listen.
