This year, our Littleton boy’s tennis team sent two team members to state. One of those members was foreign exchange student, Erik Meier. Erik is attending LHS this semester as a student athlete from Switzerland.

He is enjoying his time in Colorado, more specifically, as a student here. While he is here, Erik got the experience to play tennis on the boys varsity team. He played tennis in Switzerland for many years in addition to hockey ‘floor ball’ and soccer. His favorite part of Colorado is the mountains and all the skiing.

“The height, the pressure of the air is different, so the balls jump differently,”

We are known as the mile high city, which is more than 1600 meters, while in Switzerland they are only roughly 400 meters above ground. The tournaments for playing tennis are more complicated in Switzerland compared to here.

“It felt special [going to state] since I am an exchange student here for only half the year and I got the chance to go there. I liked it a lot,”

Erik’s favorite thing about Littleton is his opportunity to play varsity tennis with his teammates. The tennis team was extremely welcoming to Erik this season.

He is looking forward to going back to Switzerland to see his friends and family next month.
