Freshman Spotlight: Wren Freeman

Freshman Wren Freeman has made a great impact on LHS athletics with exceptional results in Flag Football, Wrestling, and Track and Field this year!

Freeman previously attended Newton Middle School, where she broke records for the girls 100m and 200m! But before high school, she had never competitively wrestled or played flag football before, yet she made it to state for wrestling and played for the LHS Varsity Flag Football team!

During the fall flag football season, Freeman was a Varsity rusher and a Varsity wide receiver. The team made it all the way to the playoffs, and it was the first year that LHS had their own flag football team!

When reflecting on her season, Freeman said, “We didn’t make it as far as we wanted, but we worked really hard as a team and we got much farther than we anticipated on going.”

This past winter, Freeman joined the LHS Girls Wrestling team, and did incredible! As a first-year wrestler she made it to state and placed fourth! Freeman says that wrestling is her favorite sport out of the 3 she participated in this year.

“I love how much wrestling pushes you. And I like the odds, because you have a 50/50 chance of getting beat or winning, so you just have to work hard.”

Freeman is currently running Varsity Track and Field. She does five events on and off: The 2-by-4, the long jump, pole vault, relays, and the 400m. Her favorite event is the 200m.

Freeman has high aspirations about her future athletic career in high school.

When asked about said aspirations Freeman said, “I just hope I can get better and I can make it further in all my sports and events. I hope I can be the second state champion for wrestling that LHS has had.”

Freeman has an upcoming track meet on Saturday, which is hosted by LHS. We can’t wait to see what she does next!
