On February 15, 2025 the Girl’s Varsity Baseball team played Heritage in a fierce matchup here at LHS. It was the last home game of the season, and was very close. The game ended with a score of 32, Littleton and 35, Heritage. Girl’s C team won 54 to 16 earlier.

“It’s definitely a disappointing loss, but I’m really looking forward to our game against Dakota Watch coming up!” said Erica Levene (Jr.) after the game.

At first, it was slow to start, with both teams at a standstill until Emma Bird (Jr.) made the first of her many key plays.

Lena Drakos (Jr.) helped start the game in the Lions’ favor, snatching a rebound and stopping Heritage from scoring.

Bird got a 2 pointer after a long drive, and Mariah Stitt (Sr.) was instrumental in driving the ball. She got the first 3 point shot of the game, bringing the Lions back up with Heritage.

After halftime and a pep talk from Head Coach Jared Prince, there was a shift in energy and confidence in the girls.

“I think the highlight of the game is when we went on a streak where we started scoring at the beginning of the second half,” said a smiling Levene. “That really brought the morale up, since we did have a flat start.”

Martinez shooting her free throws in order to tie the game.

Right away, Levene got a 3 pointer, followed by a second one later on in the half. Combined with another 3 pointer made by Drakos and several free throws by Bird, the Lions ended the 3rd quarter 21 to 17.

The fourth quarter kept the crowd on the edge of their seats, the lead shifting back and forth from Littleton to Heritage.

Eliza Martinez (Sr.) got a key 2 pointer, bringing LHS from 29 to 31, Heritage with 30. Afterwards, she gets her free throw, tying the teams in the last 40 seconds.

The Lions hoped to make a final victory push, but it was down to the wire, and Heritage had the ball. In the last few moments of the game, Heritage scored a 3 pointer.

“Our team has grown a lot over the season, both in how we play together and how we support each other,” said Martinez when asked about what she is proud of. “We’ve really learned to trust one another and play as a family. This is the closest I’ve ever felt to a team in my four years, and I love being a part of it.”

The Lions’ last game this season is at Dakota Ridge, February 19th.
