Homecoming pep assembly

On Friday, September 20th, classes ended early for our homecoming pep assembly at LHS. The afternoon was filled with excitement as the marching band led the school through the halls to the north gym, adorned in our school colors of purple and gold.

The event featured a lively game of bubble soccer, a parade around the gym celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with students proudly displaying their heritage flags, and an energetic performance by the poms team.

Our principal, Dr. Thomas Velazquez, added to the festive atmosphere by wearing a traditional traje de charro.

A traje de charro is a traditional Mexican outfit worn by horsemen called charros, typically featuring decorated tight pants, a short jacket, a wide-brimmed sombrero, and often associated with mariachi performers and cultural festivals.

After the parade and during the bubble soccer game, a mariachi band played, adding a vibrant and festive musical backdrop to the celebrations.

The assembly also included a fun game where students sat on rolling boards and used plungers to move across the gym, adding to the overall joy and spirit of the day.
