It’s winter in Colorado, and here comes the snow!
Denver has reached its coldest month, and temperatures are dropping. Here are some tips for the snowy Denver winter, where it is 20 degrees one day and 50 degrees the next.
Weather Patterns
Luckily, this week it will be mostly sunny, and snow isn’t expected to appear until Saturday. But there is still snow and ice on the streets, so take precautions when driving, especially in neighborhoods that weren’t plowed. Temperatures are still going to be in the 30s to 40s, so dress warm!
Preparing your car for the worst
The majority of students aren’t able to put their cars in a garage overnight, so when it snows, cars get covered in not just snow, but also ice. It’s really important to properly scrape off your car when this happens, so there aren’t any broken, cracked or scratched windows. Along with that, it’s crucial that the car is suitable for driving in snow, and the tires need to have enough traction to not slide on any ice. When temperatures rise from the 20s to the 50s, air tire pressure becomes very low, so be aware of that and check tire pressure consistently. Be careful this winter, and drive slow when needed!
Fun winter places to go!
There are many ways to have fun this winter, despite cold temperatures! Taking a trip to the mountains is an amazing thing to do, whether it’s for skiing, snowboarding, tubing, or just exploring the town. One of the main activities that is highly recommended is going ice skating!
