The wrestling season is coming to an end for most athletes, with amazing matches from all LHS wrestlers at League, which was hosted by Columbine. It was an incredible night for us, with both captains competing in the first place bout.

Juniors Mimi Boone and Kooper Griggs won all of their matches and became Jeffco 4A League State Champs. Sophomore Riley Meissner also had an impressive night and was named the runner-up League Champ. Overall, LHS got 3rd place, which is outstanding.

Girls wrestling at LHS has come a long way, and the results have been tremendous since this year was the first year LHS had their own girls team that wasn’t combined with Heritage and Arapahoe High Schools.

Boone was extremely proud and excited of how well her team was doing, and as a captain. She’s been on this team for 3 years, and she says that the mindset of LHS is a lot different than Arapahoe and Heritage’s.

“Having like minded people, having our own coaches here, it definitely motivated me to work harder, and it’s just been like a dream in the making to have this happen.” Boone said.

Along with her captains, freshman Wren Freeman put up a phenomenal fight, and persevered to have a successful end of her season.

“I’m really proud of how I wrestled and it made me really happy that I could get this far as a freshman. I’m so excited for the upcoming years, and I’m really excited for this team and to watch us grow.” Freeman said.

We are thrilled to see what the LHS Girls Wrestling team will achieve next. Congratulations to this prospective team!
