LHS students explain their feelings towards Lions Follies

Lions Follies is a LHS tradition, one that has decreased in popularity in the last few years.  The talent show acts as a fundraiser for the LHS prom, so why does no one participate or even seem to notice it?

After not having a talent show last year, it was surprising for some students that it was being continued this year.  Though many students have high hopes for this years performance, others don’t feel the same.

One anonymous student voices why they believe Lions Follies haven’t been successful.

“I think that Lions Follies isn’t really going to turn out well because everyone who has talent is already doing things and is already busy.  If you sing, you’re in choir or the musical and you are exhausted.  If you dance you probably dance competitively somewhere else or in the musical.  If you’re playing an instrument, you’re in band, orchestra, or something else.  No one has the time to be spending on a talent show when there’s already opportunities within the performing arts department to express those talents.”

However, other students feel differently about the outcome of this year.

“People are too embarrassed to show off their talents but I think people just need to sign up and go for it.  Anything’s really cool and they shouldn’t be embarrassed.  We need to see something besides just singing.”

The purpose of Lions Follies is to show off the students of LHS in a different way.  All students should get the opportunity to show off their talents, including on the LHS stage.
