Lions face off against Frederick Football

On Friday October 4, the Littleton football team lost to Frederick. At the end of the first quarter, Frederick already had a strong lead of 20 points. The end of the second half, they were winning with 41 points. Littleton scored a touchdown with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

Junior QuarterbackTekola Cornetet gave us some inside on Littleton’s “secret weapon”. To score their touchdown they used the play “Goose”. Cornetet goes up to the center, the center snaps it to him, and Cornetet runs it to the end zone and scores 6 points. The other team’s defense is unprepared for the quick play, and the Littleton offense blocks the other team so the quarterback had space to run. This play was a success when they ran it in the 3rd quarter.

“It was thanks to his good returns,” said junior Emin Moymy, crediting the touchdown to Cornetet.

The team has hope for the rest of the season.

“I feel like although the score hasn’t reflected it, we’re so very close to being able to run our offense very well. The defense has been holding up, the offense has to catch up now and be able to keep up with the other teams,” said Cornetet.

They plan to continue to work hard during each practice and game. They believe that the score will soon start to reflect this hard work.

The opposing team was able to score once more before the quarter was over, leaving them with 47 points. The Littleton defense shut out every offensive attempt by Frederick in the fourth quarter and no additional points were scored. The game ended with a good fight but resulted in Littleton losing 47-7.
