Our very own Littleton Girls Flag Football team had a tournament at the LPS
Stadium this past Saturday, August 24th. It was a tournament consisting of two games, featuring
all three LPS high schools: Littleton, Arapahoe and Heritage.
The first game was Littleton versus Arapahoe and the second
game was played between Littleton and Heritage. The lions team was filled with
a wide range of students from every grade. Every player was excited to be a part
of the inaugural tournament for flag football.
This was the first game played for the recognized CHSAA team. Junior Annie Fox played for the Lions at the tournament on the 24th. “I think the fact that it’s
Chassa Sanctioned this year is actually really cool,” said Fox.
The first game included a lot of possession changes between the Lions and the Warriors, including a few interceptions by the Warriors. Junior Ava Martin was a
highlight for the Lions, gaining yards and catching long passes.
During the game our LHS varsity poms team brought the spirit and cheered loudly for the
team.
The score of the first game was 0 Littleton and 25 Arapahoe, and the second
game was 0 Littleton 52 Heritage. “And for our first game, I think we did pretty
good. We’re learning our routes still and really improving as a team and figuring
out how to play,” said Fox.
Every player on all three teams did an amazing job and brought the spirit needed
to this new league. It was super cool to get the players excited for the game. “We
can play as a real sport and have announcements and all that kind of stuff is
super fun,” continued Fox.
This new girls flag football league will be a really cool experience and definitely
fun to play on the team. Even though the Lions did not win, they brought excitement and energy to the games, which was inspiring to watch. Come support your LHS Lions at the future games!
