This year, most of the student council positions only have one candidate, except for Student Body President, which has three. All of them juniors, Grace Amine, Lane Greenly, and McAllister Johnson all have prior student council experience, original ideas, and unique strengths.

Grace Amine is the current Junior Class President. And before that, her Student Council involvement tracks all the way back to 3rd grade. “I just hope to continue to be a part of student council and do great things for Littleton High School,” says Amine.

Grace has hopes to implement several different programs. First, one where you can purchase and paint a parking spot at the beginning of the year. She is optimistic that this will alleviate recent parking difficulties as well as make the outside of the school more colorful. Second, a mandatory seminar on sexual assault. It would be “for all students to participate in to spread awareness about issues that have recently been shed more light on.” Third, free feminine hygiene products in all of the girls’ bathrooms.

In her opinion, she is very in tune with “what other students want for Littleton and… what they think will make Littleton better. I’m really good at incorporating those ideas into the things that student council can influence.” On why she wants to be elected, Grace says that she wants “everyone else at Littleton to feel like they belong and I want them to design Littleton to be the school that they want it to be” especially in light of the changes in administration being made next year.

Lane Greenly has been in Student Council all throughout middle school and high school. She was Sophomore Class Public Relations Officer and she is currently Student Body Vice President.

She is mainly running on the idea of “bringing more spirit back to Littleton because of Covid… and everything that’s been going on in the world… we’ve lost a little bit of our spirit and our participation.” She also plans to prioritize taking into consideration ideas of all students when it comes to Spirit Weeks/Days.

Lane believes that her work ethic and positive attitude make her the best for this position. Additionally, her experience working with a past and the current Student Body President will benefit her greatly in this role. “I love Littleton and everything about it and I would love to bring more excitement back to LHS,” says Greenly.

McAllister Johnson has been involved in Student Council all throughout high school. She was in General Council Freshman year and Sophomore Class President. She has also been School Accountability Committee Representative for the past two years.

McAllister has plans to improve representation of different clubs at LHS: “I think it would be really cool if we got our art’s program more involved.” She proposes doing Spirit Days for the theater performances, utilizing our choirs in pep assemblies, and celebrating our marching band to a greater extent.

“I feel like we always talk about our sports but we don’t talk enough about our Marching Band.” She hopes to be the one to change this.

She believes that she is skilled at hearing everyone’s opinions and that it is to her advantage that she has friends in many different clubs and parts of LHS. “I think I have a really good understanding of if not myself than my peers and what is needed and what is important at Littleton.” She also thinks that past experience working with the administration will help her as Student Body President.

All Student Council elections will be held this Wednesday during Seminar. You will watch the video speeches of each of the candidates and cast your vote. Good luck to all those who are running!
