This year marks Ms. Wilkins’ 30th year teaching at LHS, and also marks her well-deserved final year. After so many years of teaching classes like Design Technology, Woods, and IB Design Tech in the woodshop, Ms. Wilkins is looking forward to some time away from school.

Ms. Wilkins is going to miss the student interaction the most, and has faith that the program at LHS will continue to be successful.

“I hope that the program continues to be strong, when I started I had a grand total of 70 kids in the fall and 55 in the spring, so going from that to two teachers has been a cool thing,” said Ms. Wilkins.

Ms. Wilkins notes that she isn’t completely sure about her plans after retirement, but she is going to hold off on being a substitute teacher for at least a few years

“At the point right now I’m not planning to [sub], but it depends on if I stay in the area, I might plan on moving to Montana with my kids,” said Wilkins.

Nevertheless, her work in the woodshop doesn’t end after she retires, as she still has many projects planned.

“We have our custom cabinet shop that my husband and I own, … so I could very well be back in the woodshop in a year,” said Wilkins.

After teaching generations of students to be safe and creative in the woodshop, it is clear that Ms. Wilkins has left a positive legacy on Littleton High School.
