The new year brings a new class at LHS. Musical Theater! This class will be run by Ms. Taylor and Ms. L, so we automatically know that the class will be fun. The Musical Theater class will be a new edition to LHS, and I know that I’m very excited for it to join the curriculum.
There are many things that students will be learning in this class. Ms. L says “We’re going to go over things we usually don’t get to go over in choir or theater. Like the incorporation of singing and acting with dancing, all at once.” Students will be given the opportunity to learn things they haven’t gotten the opportunity to learn anywhere else in this school.
“It’s a different skill set than we would be able to learn in any other environment or any other class that we have here,” said Ms. Taylor.
Students do not need any prior experience with anything in the performing arts before joining this class. But Ms. L and Ms. Taylor do have some requests.
“They just need to be pleasant human beings and be ready to work hard and have a good time, that’s what we’re looking for,” said Ms. Taylor.
Ms. L and Ms. Taylor also have plenty of experience to help students with learning how to use their performing arts talents in the real world after high school. Students will be learning how to sing, act, and dance at the same time.
“If you can do all three of those things then you are more employable as a performer,”
Ms. L and Ms. Taylor will make sure that you can do something with your passion when you graduate.
The musical theater class only has ten people enrolled as of Tuesday December, 7th. There is plenty of space for anybody who want to learn and Ms. L and Ms. Taylor will always be happy to have more. On the registration list, this class is called Show Choir, but Ms. L and Ms. Taylor are working to get it to say Musical Theater. The class is scheduled for 5th period. Go talk to your counselor about joining this class.
