Popular skiing destinations for every explorer

As the winter season progresses and the snow continues its relentless fall, there are many activities that can make this frosty period of time more enjoyable, one being skiing. In Colorado, there are many preferred places to enjoy this sport, some having better views or a more inclusive experience for skiers of all levels.

Keystone and Breckenridge are very beginner friendly ski resorts with hills or trails designated to skiers just starting as well as a wide variety of green and blue ski trails, and Keystone even has delegated slow ski zones. These mountains have wide varieties of leveled ski trails ranging from green to black diamond, Breckenridge to double black dimond. Some of these trails lead to or include mobiles and a terrain park that includes jumps, jibs, half pipes, rails, boxes, quarter half pipes, and other terrain factors that change almost every season. Keystone and Beckenridge also offer ski schools for beginners who want to learn from more experienced ski instructors.

Vail is a ski resort that can be a bit daunting for beginners as most of the trails are focused for more intermediate or advanced skiiers, as it is also the second largest ski resort in North America. While this destination may present some initial challenges, the stunning views compensate for the effort. From the snow frosted hilltops to the flocked trees, this winter wonderland is truely an awe-inspiring sight. 53% of the trails that encompass this mountain are intended for more advanced skiers as many include steep drops, small boulders, and large mobiles.

Copper mountain is a great escape from the busy city life. This ski center contains a world-class terrain park, a wide variety of leveled trails, and a very family friendly, hushed environment. Although this ski resort does contain some dificult trails for intermediate or advanced skiers, the setting is mostly geared toward skiing newbies. This resort does have a smaller total area, therefore less trails to experience, but this also promotes a remote and immersive environment.

Another secluded ski resort is Granby Ranch. This beautiful retreat consists of two different mountains that provide different leveled trails and each contains its own terrain park. The west side is mostly geared towards advanced skiers with more blue and black runs. The east side is great for beginners and intermediates that would like to continue improving. One of the perks of this location is that both these mountains contain thrilling shortcuts through tree, sometimes also including very small jumps. As with Copper mountain, this ski resort doesn’t normally attract a large crowd, especially during week days and off national holidays, and is a great escape with awe-inspiring views and a lovely environment.
