This past Saturday, LHS prom took place at the Denver Children’s Museum, with a theme of Enchanted Garden.

The Children’s Museum in Denver is a very large and spread out museum full of attractions and games for kids. Nearly the whole museum was open to the prom-goers. There were many rooms where everyone could explore and have fun playing games. The rooms included a fake grocery store, a firetruck, a climbing area, an art room, a water room, a bubble room and a kinetics room. The guests were allowed to travel around the venue, and there even was a free photobooth for everyone to use.

“It’s been really fun. There’s a lot of stuff to do,” said guest Sophie Halie.

Along with rooms to explore, student council provided art supplies including flower crowns and bracelets. Almost all of the guests made some sort of creation using the many supplies provided.

Senior Salma Martins said, “This prom has been really great.  It’s better, way better, than last year.” One reason for this is because of the venue, and the many different things you could do.

Outside the museum was the highly popular ice cream truck! When people weren’t running around and playing with the bubbles, they were at the ice cream truck. Everyone seemed to have a great time ordering free ice cream of many different flavors.

“Prom last year was slightly mediocre. It was one big space we all sat in, nothing special. This is an adventure and I love it!” said Senior Willis Moore.

Many students were very impressed with the different activities the museum provided, making prom very different from previous years.

“Tonight has been really entertaining. I like it,” said Senior Taylor Castello.

The fashion varied greatly this year. Some of the trends we noticed were slip dresses, and a lot of black and white. Yellow was also a popular color this year. A lot of the dresses were glittery, and both girls and guys wore cowboy hats and boots.

A very common prom experience is the crowning of king/queen and prince/princess along with many superlatives. Djuna Strahl and Mason Koons won Prom Queen and King along with Molly Ozimek and Derek Lopez-Petroski for Princess and Prince. Best Gal-Pals were Eliza Neff and Tristan Mills, and the best bromance was Kaden Pullar and Gasim Mohamed Osman. The best dressed female was Tatum Pratt and the best dressed male was Michael Alexander.

Along with the help of the student council, many teacher sponsors came to help out at the event. “It’s amazing. Yeah, this is a great location. Looks like everyone is having a good time and I’m really happy to be here,” Dr Thomas Velasquez said, when asked about his first Prom at LHS.

Overall, prom was a big hit! The venue and many activities were very unique and provided the guests many opportunities for fun. What was not your traditional prom has set a standard that will hopefully be met for many years to come.
