Raise your spirits for spirit week

Next week, October 26-30, is spirit week at LHS! The theme is “raise your spirits”, and everyone should participate.

Spirit week dress up days

This year, Monday and Tuesday are class t-shirt days. Usually, class t-shirts are on Friday, but this Thursday and Friday are for Halloween costumes since the holiday is that weekend. Wednesday is bring your pet to school day, so make sure to bring your furry friend  with you on your Google Meets and dress them if you want.

Student Council is still holding school events throughout the spirit week. On Monday and Tuesday, ice cream sandwiches will be provided in the cafeteria. Monday after school there will be a free pumpkin carving contest and Tuesday night is Chick Fil A night at Streets of Southglenn. At lunch on Thursday and Friday, go pay $1.00 to hear a song of your choice to be played in the cafeteria. After school the marching band will be playing on Thursday and the jazz band on Friday, so make sure not to miss it!

“It [spirit week] makes the school more united and it also makes school more enjoyable and participating in the events doesn’t make you lame or stand out, it makes you part of the school,” said student body president Samantha Hernandez.

This year homecoming is looking a little different, and by different it means not really at all. One part of homecoming that is still happening is spirit week, which is dedicated to dressing up. This spirit week has fewer dress-up days to accommodate students coming to school only two days a week, but Halloween will absolutely be incorporated.

“Pep rallies and things really aren’t happening so we should participate in the things we can,” said senior Addi Vander-Velde.

It is incredibly essential for students to dress up next week, since  there will not be a lot of after school events. It is unclear when the next spirit week will be as well, so take advantage of the current one and participate with the entire school.
