Seniors, Painted Parking Spots Coming Next Year!

This Wednesday, it was announced that starting next year, our school will introduce a vibrant new tradition for the senior class: senior-painted parking spots! This exciting initiative offers juniors the opportunity to personalize their own parking spaces as they step into their final year. Here’s what you need to know about participating in this unique activity.

To secure your personalized parking spot, there is a $175 fee. This fee will not only cover the costs associated with this activity but also support our school’s Poms team, with the remaining funds allocated for repainting the parking spots in the future. This contribution helps ensure that the parking lot remains well-maintained and ready for future classes to enjoy, while also providing valuable funding for the Poms team.

Mark your calendars for August 1st, 2024! From 8 am to 12 pm, you will have the opportunity to pick and paint your designated parking spot. Be sure to bring all necessary supplies for your design, including paint, brushes, and any other materials you might need. The required materials include latex exterior water-based paint, brushes, rollers, sponges, masking tape, chalk, a broom, plastic drop cloth, and containers for water and paint. Remember, your design must be pre-approved, so make sure you have your plan ready ahead of time. Submit your design to the designated school official by June 24, 2024, for approval, ensuring it aligns with school guidelines and values. Notification of design approval will occur no later than July 8, 2024. On the day of the event, check in with the staff member overseeing the parking spot painting to get started.

Your personalized parking spot is just that—yours. To ensure everyone’s designs are respected, these spots will be strictly enforced. If you find someone has taken your spot, notify a staff member immediately. Similarly, respect others’ spaces to maintain a positive atmosphere for all participants. This initiative is designed to promote creativity and school spirit, so let’s work together to make it a positive experience for everyone.

Additionally, it is important to follow specific guidelines and tips to ensure your design and painting process go smoothly. Designs must be free of obscenities, inappropriate and/or negative messages, and references to alcohol, marijuana, drugs, smoking, or gangs. Any violation will result in the reserved parking spot being painted over without a refund. On painting day, tape the edges of your spot with a 3-inch margin before painting, sweep off dirt and pebbles, and use chalk to sketch your design. Starting from the front of your spot and working outward can help avoid stepping into neighboring spots.

This is the first time our school has ever implemented senior-painted parking spots, making it a historic moment for the Class of 2025. It’s a chance to leave your mark, showcase your creativity, and contribute to school spirit in a memorable way. Imagine arriving at school each day and parking in a space that reflects your personality and achievements. It’s a unique way to celebrate your final year and leave a lasting impression.

We’re excited to see the parking lot transformed with unique and colorful designs that reflect the diverse personalities of our senior class. This new tradition not only enhances the aesthetics of our school but also strengthens the bond among students as they share their artistic talents and personal stories. Let’s make this new tradition a vibrant success!
