People are always saying things such as get some light, eat less candy, go outside, and most of the time we put that in the back of our head, but some of these are true, such as good organization. Good organization in students has many benefits, such as effective time management, stronger self-esteem and satisfaction, and enhanced communication skills. On top of that people who develop a good organization system and habits at a young age can carry that skill through their life, helping them get better jobs and opportunities.
In an interview with Sophomore Tessa Julien she spoke on being an organized student. When asked if Julien thought it helped them with time use and school work, Julien responded with “Definitely, it makes me more on track, I stay focused much better, I know what I’m doing so I’m not procrastinating and wasting time with school work”
In an interview with teacher Danielle Prince, I asked if she considers herself an organized person she said, “Organization is something I have struggled with a lot, like growing up and even as a young adult. And so I think it’s something that you have to, if it doesn’t naturally come to you it, has to be something that you work on.”
Prince was also asked if she though organization was crucial for students learning: “I totally think it’s crucial, I think that a lot of the way students get behind or miss assignments is that they’re just not organized. They don’t have the executive functioning skills that they need to help them organize successfully, but I think for them to stay on top for assignments organization is key.”
Schoolwork is hard, and it doesn’t need to be any harder. Just like Julien said, “I know what I’m doing,” and you can too! Several organization softwares and programs exist for this purpose. So start organizing, and making your work time shorter.
