Nestled within the vibrant walls of Littleton High School is a thriving hub of creativity- the Art Club. Led by a passionate group of officers, this club has become a welcoming haven for aspiring artists from all walks of life. Meet the creative minds behind the club: Milo Wedding (President), Zil Torres (Vice President), Vinny Anderson (Secretary), and Piper Hrouda (Public Relations). In an exclusive interview, Hrouda offers insights into the heart of the club, its projects, and how you can join this artistic community.
For Hrouda, the Art Club became a second home during their sophomore year. Beyond the appeal of art itself, what drew them in was the sense of belonging and the vibrant community that awaited within the club’s doors.
“I was getting more and more into art, and I didn’t have a lot of motivation unless I was with other people doing art,” Hrouda shared.
Littleton High School’s Art Club provided the support and inclusivity needed to ignite their artistic journey.
Hrouda’s decision to run for the role of Public Relations Officer was fueled by a deep desire to broaden the club’s horizons.
“I really wanted everybody to know about Art Club and care about Art Club as much as I do,” Hrouda affirmed.
Their election signifies a commitment to the club’s expansion and a testament to their natural leadership abilities. With Hrouda at the helm, the future holds exciting possibilities for creative outreach.
Among the club’s most notable endeavors is the Memory Project, a longstanding tradition spanning over a decade. This meaningful initiative involves creating portraits of children who have experienced trauma, serving as a poignant reminder of their happier days. The project nurtures club members’ artistic talents and brings solace to those it touches.
“It lets a lot of people show off their skills, and it makes all of these kids really, really happy,” Hrouda shared with pride.
The Art Club’s influence extends far beyond the school’s walls, with students lending their artistic talents to create murals in other educational institutions and throughout the wider community. While there may be limited available walls within Littleton High School at present, the club eagerly anticipates future opportunities to transform spaces into vibrant visual narratives.
The club’s commitment to celebrating artistic talent is epitomized by their ‘Art Features’ initiative on Instagram. Originally created to showcase students’ artworks, this platform is set to be revived. Hrouda underscores the importance of inclusivity:
“Having a space where they can maybe be anonymous but also get recognition is really important.”
This initiative is a testament to the club’s dedication to promoting art and creativity in all its forms.
As the Art Club prepares for the upcoming festivities, including Halloween decorations, their focus remains on fostering an environment where artistic expression knows no bounds. With dedicated leadership, passionate members, and a wealth of creative energy, the Littleton High School Art Club continues to flourish, leaving an indelible mark on both the school and the broader community.
