As a new school year begins, Littleton High School welcomes Ms. Grady Beach to its counseling staff. With a warm smile and a passion for connecting with students, Ms. Beach is excited to join the Littleton community.
Ms. Beach brings a diverse background to her role as a high school counselor. She spent 17 years as a competitive ice skater, contemplating a future that would lead her to the Olympics or Disney on Ice. However, her journey took a different turn as she decided to transition to the world of education.
“I liked ice skating, but I wanted something more,” she said.
Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ms. Beach moved to Colorado only two months ago, making her new role at Littleton High School a significant milestone. She had been eager to relocate for about a year before finally landing the job at Littleton. Explaining her choice, she said,
“I mainly looked at Littleton because of the size of the district and its diverse population. This school aligns with my vision for education.”
Ms. Beach’s transition to Colorado has been seamless, and she has quickly fallen in love with the state. She appreciates the breathtaking mountain scenery and enjoys hiking on weekends. Regarding winter activities, Ms. Beach is an avid skier and recently invested in an Icon Pass to fully embrace the Colorado snow.
In a school with a strong emphasis on community involvement, Ms. Beach also plans to explore local events, particularly those related to food.
“We’re big foodies,” she reveals, referring to her sister and brother-in-law, with whom she lives.
Ms. Beach’s role as a counselor allows her to make a positive impact on students’ lives. She is thrilled by her interactions with students from all grade levels, emphasizing that these connections make her day truly enjoyable.
“It would be the most boring job in the world if I just had my door closed and sat at my computer,” she says.
She emphasizes the importance of feeling like a part of a family in her work environment, and Littleton High School’s staff has embraced her wholeheartedly.
“Being new, they are so helpful,” she says, appreciating the proactive support she receives from her colleagues.
“They tell me all the time, ‘You don’t know what you don’t know,’ which is very true,” she adds.
As she settles into her role, Ms. Beach is making an effort to immerse herself in the school culture. She has acquired various Littleton High School t-shirts and even participated in a staff t-shirt exchange event. Her enthusiasm for attending school events, such as football games and the upcoming play, reflects her desire to connect with students and fully embrace the high school experience.
While she may be new to Littleton High School, Ms. Beach’s commitment to fostering a sense of community and her passion for supporting students in their academic journey have already made her an essential part of the school. As the year progresses, students can look forward to getting to know Ms. Beach and benefiting from her dedication to their well-being and success.
