Kanye is a name that has been in the news for a while now, after his divorce from Kim Kardashian and his hatred toward Pete Davidson for dating Kim. Kanye has been on Instagram posting Pete Davidson slander and using this attention to gain popularity for the sequel of his last album, Donda.
When Donda 2 was announced, I was confused. I feel like he needed to take more time to come up with ideas, and announcing its release only a couple of months after the first Donda was a weird move (not to mention that Donda 2 was released only 6 months after the first Donda).
During the leadup, the rise of Kanye’s Instagram posts started to begin with him slandering Pete and his close friend Kid Cudi. Kid Cudi and Pete are on good terms and Pete admires Cudi’s work. This caused Kanye to cut ties with Cudi and take all of his features off of the album.
This removal and separation of Cudi made me angry due to the sudden change of relations between him and Cudi, and how good they worked together in the past. Their collaborations, such as the chart-topping album ‘Kids See Ghosts’ and how much it showed that Kanye and Cudi are capable of making good projects. Cudi has responded by calling Kanye a “Dinosaur” and saying that their friendship is over.
After this news, I wasn’t exactly excited for Donda 2, but I was still semi-interested. That is until Kanye came out with a statement that Donda 2 will not be available on any other music streaming platforms (Such as Spotify, iMusic, Youtube Music, etc) and will be an exclusive on his own platform, the Stem Player. The Stem Player is $200 and offers a unique sound mixing feature and can stream most songs.

While I don’t hate the idea of the Stem Payer, I feel as if Donda 2 should still be available on other platforms and I also dislike how sudden this announcement was. This, as well as the drama surrounding Kanye, deterred me even more from listening.
But, most importantly, Kanye is not mentally well. He needs to take a break from music and focus on himself. After watching the Donda 2 stream, I could tell that Kanye wasn’t himself, and I wish he could realize how much damage he is causing.
I will not be listening to Donda 2, because Kanye needs to focus on himself and not the publicity of his actions.
