The week of February 5th to 10th at Littleton High School was not just about academics and routines; it was about making dreams come true, spreading joy, and supporting a cause that touched hearts across the school. Littleton High School’s Student Council orchestrated an incredible Wish Week, raising an estimated value of around $5,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Make-A-Wish Colorado’s mission resonated throughout the school as students, teachers, and families came together to support children facing critical illnesses. The week was dedicated to raising funds to fulfill the wish of a special child, Harper, a three-year-old battling End Stage Kidney Disease.
Harper, a resident of Centennial, Colorado, has faced numerous challenges in her young life, spending birthdays and holidays in hospitals. Littleton High School united in a collective effort to make Harper’s wish a reality–a trip to Walt Disney World Resorts. Harper’s favorite things, including the colors pink and blue, Disney characters, and her brother Jacob, inspired a wave of support and generosity.
The fundraising events throughout the week showcased the school’s commitment to the cause. Restaurant nights at Cherry Cricket, Perry’s Pizza, Modern Market, and Romano’s provided not only delicious meals but also a portion of the proceeds towards Harper’s wish.
Spirit Week added a vibrant touch to the Wish Week festivities. From Dreams Come True (PJ Day) to Disney/Cartoon Character Day, Beach Day, and Dress Like a Kid, students showed creativity and enthusiasm. A highlight of the week was the Color Wars on Friday, where the school was divided into Blue and Pink, with a winter pep rally building excitement for the upcoming winter dance.
The winter dance, themed “Enchantment Under the Sea,” concluded the Wish Week with a magical evening. The event was a blast, featuring a vibrant atmosphere, fantastic music, and enthusiastic dancing. As the night came to an end, the dance floor swayed to the rhythm of “Shake It Off,” marking a jubilant conclusion to a week filled with compassion, unity, and the joy of giving.
Anika Bagal, the student body president, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support from the LHS community. The estimated $5,000 raised demonstrated not only the generosity of the students but also the power of unity when individuals come together for a meaningful cause.
In the end, Littleton High School’s Wish Week was not just a series of events but a testament to the school’s spirit, compassion, and dedication to making a positive impact. Harper’s wish journey serves as a reminder that even small gestures can create profound moments of joy, strength, and hope for those in need.
